Understanding how music works is very important. I often compare it to this: a person who knows how to recite a poem vs. a person who knows how to read. Anybody can play an instrument or sing, and generally make music, without knowing music theory; but to be the best musician you can be, you need to how it works. Learning the notes and the rhythms is just the beginning! It’s really like learning a foreign language. It can be tricky at first, but the further along you get the more sense it makes. Eventually, it will become second nature. I can teach someone if they need tutoring for a music class at school – or if you just want to know how it all works!

"No one is too young, or too old, to make music."
